August 21 News Recently, an NBA executive was interviewed by Dallas hoops Journal.
Speaking of the prospects for the Cavaliers' new season, the executive said: "If they cannot win the Eastern Conference championship with Tyres (Halliburton) and Tatum absent, they should be completely reorganized. Because if they cannot win the division championship without both players, they will not succeed when those two return next season. For this core lineup, next season is a year of success or failure.
"They have to make it to the NBA Finals next year, without any excuses. In my opinion, even if Teres and Tatum are missing, there is no team in the East that is stronger than them. I think they are better than the Knicks. If they can't win the Eastern Conference championship next season, Kobe (Altman) and Dan (Gilbert) should be completely reorganized and start over as Terrys and Tatum will return in 2026.
"They can get huge returns by trading Donovan (Mitchell) and Jarrett (Allen) and rebuild the future around Evan (Mobley). They may trade Darius (Garland) for some upcoming contracts."
