11:16am, 17 May 2025Basketball

Remember Nemania Belica, the power forward with a unique Chinese transliteration, a leader in European three-step slow technology.

Nemanja Bjelica, 6-foot-10 inches (208 cm), was born in Belgrade, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in May 1988, a Serbian native, playing as the No. 4 (PF power forward), was selected by the Washington Wizards in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft (35th overall) and was immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In July 2015, the Timberwolves signed with the Timberwolves officially entered the NBA.

played in the NBA for 7 seasons. Belica played for four teams, namely the Timberwolves (2015-2018), the Kings (2018-2021), the Heat (2021), and the Warriors (2012-2022), and won the NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors. He played in 449 games in the regular season, including 162 starts, averaging 20.4 minutes per game, scoring 7.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.4 blocks. He played in a total of 22 games in the playoffs and failed to get a starting opportunity. He averaged 10.3 minutes per game, scoring 3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks.

Nemania Belica has a soft feel, outstanding three-point shooting ability, especially stable three-pointers in the bottom corner, and has the ability to pass the ball. She often gives instant passes. She can play the core of the organization on the court and has good rebounding ability. However, Belica has poor defensive ability, slow footing, and average inside finishing ability. However, what makes people talk about the most is his three-step slow step, to be precise, European-style slow three-step layup. Belica is weak and has poor athletic ability, so he needs to find a way to avoid defense with skills, so he has a three-step slow layup in the NBA.

Although Belicia was a real little figure in her NBA career, she also had many highlights. On March 23, 2019, local time in the United States, in the Sacramento Kings defeated the Phoenix Suns 112:103 at home, Nemania Belica started for 35 minutes, scoring 13 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, capping his personal NBA career single-game rebound record.

On January 14, 2020, in the Sacramento Kings lost to the Orlando Magic 112:114 at home, Nemania Belica started for 36 minutes, making 13 of 16 shots (including 8 of 10 three-pointers), scoring the highest single-game 34 points in NBA career, plus 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

In July 2022, Belica decided to leave the NBA. Since then, he has played for Turkey (2022-2023) and Serbia (2023-2024) leagues. In March 2024, due to injury, Nemania Belica officially announced her retirement and bid farewell to the arena on social media news and was invited to officially serve as the sports director of the Bakhcehill Club in Turkey.
