Thames: Forest says it will appeal White s deal, but Tottenham has received no charges

2:57pm, 12 July 2025Football

According to the latest news from English media Times reporters Charlotte Duncker and Tom Allnutt, Tom Hotspur has not received any charges about Gibbs White's deal.

Nottingham Forest is considering legal action on Tottenham Hotspur's proposal to introduce Gibbs White.

The midfielder underwent a physical examination by Tottenham on Friday after Tottenham said he was interested in triggering his £60 million termination clause. However, sources said the Forests had stopped all communication with Tottenham Hotspur and were consulting lawyers because they believed the North London club had made illegal contact with the player.

Forest officials claim that Tottenham was never allowed to talk to Gibbs White, and his contract is two years away, which would violate Premier League rules. The T.1 rule in the

League manual stipulates that any club must obtain written consent from the club signed by the player who wants to communicate with a player who is still in the contract period. The rules also provide that it is illegal for any club to contact players who are still in the contract without permission and may face disciplinary action.

Forest also believes that there is a confidentiality loophole in his termination clause. The deal was originally expected to be reached quickly, but it is expected to be impossible to complete in the next few days. Forest is preparing to file a complaint with the Premier League.

It is understood that Tottenham has not received any news about their legal action and has declined to comment on the Forests' condemnation.
