May 28 Slott won the coach of the year named by the English Football League Head Coaches Association (LMA) and Sir Ferguson, but because of the unexpected incident of fans being hit by the championship parade, Slott did not attend the awards ceremony
Slott expressed his appreciation for the emergency response of the serious incident during the club parade on Monday. In a letter to the LMA annual awards ceremony, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who provided help immediately and continued to provide help after the incident. Slott had originally planned to receive two honors at the LMA Awards ceremony on Tuesday, but in solidarity with the victims of Monday's incident, he decided to withdraw from the ceremony.
Slott wrote in his letter: "As you know, there was a shocking incident yesterday in Liverpool, with dozens of men, women, and young and old who participated in our parade. Therefore, in order to support all those affected, I have to withdraw from the event. This is not a decision I made easily, but given the seriousness of the situation, I think it is a completely correct decision. I hope you can understand it in this regard."
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parties in the football world, including the LMA, the Premier League and many clubs that will be represented tonight, and thank you for your support in the past 24 hours. Football has always been a sport built on competition, but it is also an important source of deep friendship, especially at such a moment."
"I also want to pay tribute to Liverpool's Emergency Services and other relevant departments, who took action immediately after the incident. Together with the fans and bystanders who helped each other in critical moments, I think all those involved in the rescue after the incident deserve our gratitude. "
" I am deeply honored to be named the Premier League's best coach. Thanks to Barclays and the Premier League Selection Committee for selecting me. I am deeply honored because I know that the level of coaches in the Premier League is extremely high. Needless to say, I am also proud to be a member of the LMA, so I am really honored to be awarded the Sir Ferguson Trophy, the LMA Coach of the Year Award. It is very special to be voted by my peers, especially since I know that the people who have won the award before have incredibly outstanding abilities. "
" Sir Ferguson, I look forward to meeting you in the future and taking the trophy from you. I also look forward to attending my first LMA annual awards dinner in the future. Thank you again for your understanding and support. I would be very grateful if you can join me in praying for the victims of yesterday's incident."
