On August 31, Liverpool Club officially announced that it would renew its long-term contract with Dutch striker Garkebo.

Gakbo renewed a contract with Liverpool at AXA to ensure that he had an extension of his contract of two and a half years. After signing, the 26-year-old Dutchman said: "It feels great to renew his contract with Liverpool. I am very grateful and hope to give back more wonderful moments."

"I have a feeling of home here, my family has a feeling of home, which is a big decision for us and they feel good. I am very happy here, with a good team, a good teammate, and life around football itself is wonderful, I enjoy every moment and I am grateful to be able to continue to extend."

Garkepo completed his transfer from Eindhoven to Anfield in January 2023. So far, he has played 131 games for Liverpool, contributing 42 goals and 16 assists, and won the Premier League and League Cup with the team. In terms of international competitions, he has made 40 appearances for the Netherlands.

So far, in the 2025-26 season, Garkepo has started all three games for Liverpool, contributed 1 goal in the Premier League opening game and 2 assists in the game against Newcastle.

"It's obvious that trying to win more with the club and with the team is my goal. In my opinion, we have a very good roster now and we are trying to build something special again. We won the Premier League title last season, so we have to defend our title with all our might. We want to win the Champions League and other trophies, and that's our goal."

"For me personally, I want to continue to grow, and every year is better than the previous year, and that's my goal."
