October 5th, Manchester United legend Wes Brown was interviewed after the team defeated Sunderland 2-0. He talked about the performance of new player Mbermo, the overall performance of the team, and the first clean sheet of new goalkeeper Lamons.
How do you view the opportunity Mbermo missed in the second half?
Listen, I think you'll see him in that position this season often, and he knows he needs to do better there. You see him holding the ball with his left foot, and there is so much space that he usually rubs the ball into the bottom corner or top corner. But he lost some balance a little, so he failed to get what he wanted.
So how do you evaluate Mbermo's overall performance and his significance to the team?
I still think he is not at his best, he has caused a lot of trouble today without a final kick, but there are still assists. It was a little short of one kick in the end, but, again, it was an excellent signing for us, just what we needed.
After experiencing previous losses, are you satisfied with the team's overall performance in this game?
I don't think you can ask for more. When you lead 2-0 in the half, you may want to get in a few more. But to be honest, we have also led two goals in the past and then slacked off in the second half. I think we still performed quite well in the second half, just missing that fatal instinct. But considering the pressure the players are under this week and the arrival of new goalkeepers, it's a good performance before entering international match day.
The team has a clean sheet for the first time this season. How do you think of the defense and new goalkeeper Lamens?
As a guard, a clean sheet is the most important thing so you don't lose the game. I think they are solid today. They came into this game with some pressure, but I think everyone did their job perfectly.
Then the goalkeeper came on the court, which probably added more pressure before the game, but he performed very well. He did it very well when he needed to stand up. He rushed out at one time but you can see that he bounced well, he made a few right saves, he would hit and catch a free kick or cross when needed, and I think the coach would be very happy with his performance. Everyone's performance is very stable, but we should probably score a few more goals.
