17 years of hard waiting + 41 years of expectation Tottenham finally returned to the top of glory after missing 5 consecutive championships

On May 22, Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0 and won the Europa League championship. In addition to qualifying for next season's Champions League, this is also the second time Tottenham won the championship in the official game after 17 years. If only the European trophy is counted, this is already the second time Tottenham won the European trophy after 41 years.

Since winning the 2007-2008 League Cup, Tottenham has entered the 2008-09 League Cup final, the 2014-15 League Cup final, the 2018-19 League Cup final, and the 2020-21 League Cup final, all of which have missed the championship. They also won the Premier League runner-up in the 2016-17 season, repeatedly missing the final glory results.

On the European battlefield, Tottenham's last championship was traced back to the UEFA Cup in the 1983-84 season. Their current European honors include 3 League Cups + 1 Cup of Winners. However, it is worth mentioning that Tottenham was the first team to win the honor of European war for England. In the 1962-63 season, Tottenham defeated La Liga giants Atletico Madrid 5-1, won the European Cup of Winners, and became the first English team to stand at the top of Europe.
