On July 10, local time in Italy, the Florence Club officially announced the signing of Edin Dzeko. After two years at Fenerbahce, the 39-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina center returned to Serie A for the third time in his career.
Decko has played for Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan in his career. After playing for two years in Istanbul, he joined Purple Lily as a free transfer and signed a one-year contract, but can be renewed for another 12 months, which may keep him playing until he was 41 years old.
Purple Lily wrote in the statement: "Decko was born in Sarajevo on March 17, 1986. He signed a contract with Purple Lily until June 30, 2026, and automatically renewed the contract until June 30, 2027 if certain conditions are met."
Decko played 141 times for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and scored 68 goals. He scored 21 goals last season and sent 8 assists. In the 2023-24 season, his first season at Fenerbahce, Dzeko made a total of 46 appearances in various competitions, scored 25 goals and sent 10 assists.
During Roma and Inter Milan, Dzeko also scored 107 goals and sent 50 assists in the Serie A.
Only two players aged 39 or older appeared in Serie A last season: former Como goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who has announced his retirement, and Udinese substitute goalkeeper Daniel Padelli, and Arnautovic is the oldest player in Serie A last season.
After playing for a year at the Turkish club Besiktas, 35-year-old former Lazio captain Siro Immobile returned to Serie A to join Bologna as a free agent.
Immobile, who played 57 times for the Italian national team, signed a one-year contract with Bologna, but has the right to renew his contract for another 12 months, which may allow him to play for the Red and Blues until the summer of 2027.
In the 2024-25 season, Immobile played for the Turkish Super League club Besiktas, scoring a total of 19 goals in various competitions. His team ranks fourth in the league, lagging behind Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Samson Sports. In the summer of 2024, Immobile signed a two-year contract with Besiktas, but earlier this summer the parties agreed to terminate the contract to ensure he returned to Serie A.
Bologna will be the fifth Serie A club to play for Immobile, after he played for Juventus, Genoa, Turin and Lazio respectively. Inmobile ranked eighth in the Serie A history of top scorers, scoring 201 goals in 353 top league appearances.
Immobile still needs to score 4 goals to tie the seventh-place legend Roberto Baggio with 205 goals, tied with Dinatale with 209 goals, and tied with 15 goals with Giuseppe Meacha and Altafini, both of which have 216 Serie A goals.
Local time in Italy, Inter Milan confirmed on its official website that midfielder David Flatsi successfully underwent a hernia surgery and is expected to be injured for about one month.
Fratsey previously revealed that he had been battling recurring groin problems in the final months of the season. Therefore, despite following new coach Zivo to the United States, the Italian international did not compete in any of the FIFA Club World Cup matches.
Fratsey and Inter Milan's medical staff have agreed to postpone the surgery until after the end of the season, hoping that he will recover thoroughly this summer and prepare for pre-season training. According to various reports, he is expected to be absent for about a month.
The arrival of new coach Zivo and this operation should also be the restart of Flatsey's career in the Nerazzurri. Under the leadership of former head coach Simeone Inzaghi, he can only be a super substitute and has been staggering.
However, despite the seldom starting chance, Fratsi still provided Inter with key goals, especially the Champions League match against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
