The captains of La Liga teams, including Barcelona captain Ter Stegen, have collectively signed a statement issued by the Spanish Players' Union (AFE), expressing strong doubts about the plan to hold a La Liga in Miami, USA, and requesting the relevant management agencies to explain.

According to the Sports News, Ter Stegen is one of the signers of the statement. Also signed with him was Villarreal captain Gerald Moreno. It is worth noting that these two players are representatives of both sides who were originally scheduled to participate in the Miami game, so they have the most direct feeling about this decision. Sources revealed to the Sports News that Ter Stegen's move has nothing to do with the controversy caused by his recent absence due to injury or his future destination in Barcelona. Like other players who signed the statement, his core demand is that in such a major decision, the player group was not communicated or solicited in advance, which is unacceptable.

This joint action reflects the unity of the players in safeguarding their own rights and interests. They hope to speak out collectively and ask La Liga and the Spanish Football Association to give due respect and participation opportunities in major arrangements involving the vital interests of players in the future. After all, this overseas game will not only break the relevant labor agreement for pre-match training time, but also means that players will need to conduct cross-border long-distance travels during the league cycle, which will have a huge impact on both home and away games.

The Spanish Professional Players' Union (AFE) convened a meeting of captains of La Liga clubs on Thursday afternoon to conduct in-depth discussions and assessments on the plan announced by the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) on August 11 - an application to UEFA and FIFA to move a La Liga match abroad this season.

Previously, AFE had formally sent a letter to La Liga, requesting detailed descriptions of the program in order to inform players of the situation and collect feedback. However, the league manager responded that they have no obligation to disclose relevant information in advance, and only stated that they will notify them if there is any progress in the approval process.

In this regard, AFE and all La Liga captains agreed that this procedure promoted by the La Liga and unilaterally approved by the board of directors of the Spanish Football Association is a serious neglect and disrespect for the player group. This decision not only concerns competitive fairness, but also involves the labor rights and interests of players as workers who are forced to conduct international travel under the framework of their own national leagues.

"We are united and we require respect and transparency." AFE took this as a standpoint and made a solemn demand to the Spanish football management agency: all details of the project must be fully disclosed, and any major decision that may change the league pattern must be fully dialogue, consultation and consensus with all parties in the football industry - especially the players at the core of football - in advance.
