Five new strikers in the Premier League: Joo Pedro and Ekitic are popular, and Kunha is still indifferent

10:04am, 4 September 2025Football

Summer Transfer Market Premier League set a new historical record in 2025. The elite clubs in Britain have invested billions of pounds into their forward line, bringing in high-quality forwards.

From Liverpool, Chelsea to Manchester United, everyone is competing to strengthen the offensive line with large-scale investment. Many of the world's top players have also come to England at amazing prices.

Transfer record was broken again. Liverpool officially broke Chelsea's highest transfer record, bringing Alexander Isaac from Newcastle at a staggering price of £125 million.

Previously, Liverpool had taken the lead in introducing Florian Werz and Hugo Ekitic. Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also unwilling to fall behind in this big purchase.

New names like Joao Pedro, Mohamed Kudus and Mattus Cunia also add color to this summer transfer roster. However, not everyone's performance immediately meets the attached expectations.

As the league enters its first international break of the season, it is the right time to evaluate the success of new Premier League strikers.

Some things will immediately show their charm, but there are things that take time to adapt to the new environment.

1. John Pedro became Chelsea's new weapon

Chelsea bravely decided to introduce Joao Pedro from Brighton for £55 million. The Brazilian striker immediately showed his fit with Enzo Mareka's tactical philosophy.

His three goals he successfully scored in three preseason games in the club proved that his adaptation was very rapid. His ability to adapt immediately to the new game system is commendable.

In the Premier League, Pedro successfully continued his outstanding performance with a very outstanding performance. He has scored two goals and sent two assists in four games, making him the Chelsea forward’s top pick. The acuity and flexibility shown by Pedro makes Chelsea seem to have won a player at a very cost-effective price. At the age of 23, Pedro is considered to have a lot of room to continue to grow and get better.

If his physical condition can be maintained well, he has the potential to be a key figure in Chelsea's battle for the championship this season.

2. Ekitic's new season debut at Liverpool, name Hugo Ekitic may not be as loud as Werz or Isaac, but the French striker has directly succeeded in attracting public attention. Just as he moved from Frankfurt to Liverpool, he quickly scored three goals in three games at Liverpool.

This achievement is comparable to the record set by Daniel Sturridge in 2013. His fast, flexible and calm goal style makes Liverpool's forward line even more terrifying.

fans have doubts about his role, as Liverpool already owns Salah, Wijnaldum, and will soon be introduced to Isaac. Yet Ekitic quickly proved that he was more than just a supplementary player.

The next challenge is how Arne Slott will arrange this star-filled forward line. However, so far, Ekitic's contribution has successfully made Liverpool more sharp and difficult to predict by opponents.

3. Jack Grelish's rise in Everton

Jack Grelish's transfer to Everton was once seen as a regression in his career. After not entering Guardiola's plan, he was willing to rent it at a lower salary to rekindle his career.

The results were excellent and exceeded expectations. Grelish has recorded four very valuable assists for the team in four initial games against Everton.

The creativity he showed directly significantly improved Everton's offensive quality. Even after Grelish two assists helped Everton beat Wolves 3-2, Ellin Haaland gave him the nickname "De Bruyne".

At the age of 29, Grelish showed new impetus to return to the competitive position of the England national team, which is getting closer and closer to the World Cup. For Everton, Grelish's arrival was undoubtedly a huge surprise.

4. Mohamed Kudus adds momentum to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham does not waste time ensuring the service of Mohamed Kudus. The Ghanaian player, who was introduced from West Ham for £55m, immediately showed his strength despite not being particularly outstanding in goals and assists.

Kudus successfully recorded two assists in the opening game against Burnley. However, what he performed most was his extremely high work attitude.

He successfully interrupted his opponent's offense several times in a very effective way in the match against Manchester City. He even snatched the ball from Bernardo Silva for a time, triggering a dangerous counterattack from Tottenham.

With his very comprehensive ability, Kudus has the potential to become an important player, not only contributing in the frontcourt, but also maintaining balance throughout the game. Thomas Frank seems to have made an important piece of the Spurs puzzle.

5. Mattus Cunia has not yet started at Manchester United

Manchester United has high hopes for the Brazilian striker after introducing Mattus Cunia from Wolves for a transfer fee of £62.5 million. However, the forward has not scored or assisted in his first four games for the Red Devils.

Nevertheless, his contribution cannot be completely denied. Cunha brings new vitality to Manchester United's frontline, especially in terms of off-ball running and high-intensity pressure.

However, the hamstring injury he is now threatening his performance early this season. Manchester United's management is of course worried about this.

coach Ruben Amorin emphasized the importance of Kunha in the team's tactics. He believes that Manchester United needs the presence of the striker very much in order to be able to continue to be competitive.

Now all the attention is focused on Cunya's recovery process and how quickly he can return to the field to prove his transfer value.
