Cunha Manchester United s debut is silent, the Red Devils forward still needs to be adjusted

Martus Cunia, a new forward player who was introduced by Manchester United this summer, finally made his debut in Stockholm, Sweden. The Brazilian striker, who transferred from Wolves for £62.5 million, started in the pre-season warm-up match between Manchester United and Leeds United, but his overall performance was limited by the team's overall condition and failed to achieve the expected results.

This game is Manchester United's first pre-season warm-up match for the new season, with Cunha partnering with another new player Diego Leon on the front line. However, Cunha, which is aiming to get a good start, has not fully performed as planned.

The first half of the game was dull, and Cunha became one of the few highlights in Manchester United's frontcourt. Despite limited touch opportunities (only 25 in the first half), he showed good technical skills and forward awareness when he took the ball. With active breakthroughs and delicate little skills, Cunia created two fouls in the first half. A clever heel pass creates a chance for young player Cheetho Obie on the edge of the penalty area. His passing data is impressive, with a success rate of up to 92%.

However, the main dilemma facing Cunha is the overall weak offense. Manchester United's possession rate in the first half was only 44%, making it difficult to continue to put pressure on Leeds United's goal. This led to Cunya's lack of substantial threat on the offensive end: he failed to get the opportunity to touch the ball in the opponent's penalty area, failed to complete the goal in the whole game, and did not create obvious scoring opportunities. During the break, the score was still 0-0 and Cunia was replaced. For the highly anticipated Brazil international, this debut was obviously not "quenching thirst". He needs more time to get in with his teammates and looks forward to getting more adequate offensive support in subsequent warm-up matches.

After the trip to Sweden, the entire Manchester United team will fly to the United States to participate in the Premier League summer series. According to the schedule, the Red Devils will play against West Ham United (Metropolis Stadium on July 27), Bournemouth and Everton. Cunha is expected to continue to get a chance to play in these three North American warm-up matches to accelerate integration into the team. The friendly match against Fiorentina on August 9 is very likely to be Cunha's official debut as a Manchester United player at Old Trafford in Dream Theater.
