Viktor Gyokeres has links with Arsenal and Manchester United.
According to reports, Arsenal has made an "official offer" to Sporting Lisbon, hoping to sign Manchester United's target player Victor Giocres.
The Gunners will be busy in the transfer market this summer, and as we all know, their first priority is to sign a new striker.
Last summer and January, club executives failed to sign the striker, and the injury of Gabriel Jesus and Kay Havertz exacerbated their problems, so Mikel Arteta's team had extremely lack of options in this regard.
In recent months, Arsenal have had to use midfielder Mikel Merino as interim striker, and while he has performed well, that doesn't change the fact that they desperately need a top striker to take the club to the next level.
The North London team has been linked to several potential candidates, but the recent transfers against RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesco and Aston Villa's Oli Watkins have not been successful.
Giocres is another option, and he has performed well since moving to Sporting Lisbon from Coventry City for about £15m in 2023.
The Swedish international is one of the top European scorers of 2025, scoring 95 goals in 99 matches for Sporting Lisbon.
Arsenal is not the only team aiming at Giokelez, he has performed well under Sporting Lisbon Ruben Amorin and has therefore considered a transfer to Manchester United.
However, the Gunners should be seen as a more attractive option than Manchester United, with a Portuguese report saying Giocres has "meeted" terms with Arteta's side.
Arsenal also submitted their "first official offer" to Sporting Lisbon executives, with a reported bid of about €75 million (about £63 million). According to reports, Sporting Lisbon Chairman Fredrico Valandas believes that he can get more from Giokelez because Giokelez's termination fee is 100 million euros. It is worth noting that given Arsenal's recent strong performance in the transfer market, they are worried that Chelsea will "hijack" him.
Newcastle United's Alexander Isaac would be a more expensive option, and William Galas explains why Arsenal should choose him over Georcres.
"You can do well in your club, in your league, but when you get into the Premier League, it's different," Galas said.
"No one can deny that Geocarez has not been one of the hottest strikers in Europe for two seasons, but he has been in this state in Portugal. Some people may say that he scored in the Champions League, but his qualifications in the Premier League are still questioned."
Isaac did not perform well at Newcastle at the beginning. He used to be a good player, but he was not as good as he is now. You need to know if you can give your players time to adapt.
Newcastle star exchanged with "unhappy" Villa players, but was fired in an accident
Paul Scholes pointed out that Manchester United "must stay" a star because he "disagrees" Ruben Amorin's "risk sacrifice"
Arteta fired Arsenal, who is about to enter the "Fourth Division" league, and Manchester United must fire the "disappearance" star. But sometimes you can't wait, you need a striker who can score immediately. That's my concern for Giokelez. I'll choose Isaac because he's already proven himself in the Premier League. He has created trouble and knows how to deal with his opponent.
