The defensive contribution is too low! The on-field performance of the Warriors outside shooters is really unsatisfactory?

In the previous NBA regular season, the Milwaukee Bucks, playing at home without core player Giannis Antetokounmpo, still defeated the Golden State Warriors 120-110. After this game, the Bucks, who had won two consecutive victories, improved their record to 4 wins and 1 loss; while the Warriors, who ended their two consecutive victories, saw their record drop to 2 wins and 4 losses.

In this game, the performance of the Warriors' substitute outside pitcher Buddy Hield was not ideal. Hield played 16 minutes and 54 seconds, shooting 3 of 6 from the field and 2 of 4 from beyond the three-point line. He scored 8 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal, with a plus-minus of -8. Hilder performed normally on the offensive end. He still showed his shooting ability and seized the limited shooting opportunities to score some points despite not playing much time. The only problem is that Hield's performance on the defensive end is very unsatisfactory. It seems that he has a positive defensive attitude, but in fact his defensive effect is very poor and he is completely unable to create enough threats to his opponents. Hield was unable to play a very good role, which was also an important factor in his obviously limited playing time. This also showed that his series of performances were not fully recognized by the team's coaching staff.

In the NBA regular season last season, Hield maintained full attendance in 82 games. In an average of 22.7 minutes per game, Hield averaged 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks. He also had 1.1 turnovers and 1.6 fouls. He shot 41.7% from the field, 37% from the three-point range, and 82.8% from the free throw line. In the playoffs, Hield played a total of 12 times, averaging 27.3 minutes per game. He averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. He also had 1.1 turnovers and 2 fouls. He shot 41.6% from the field, 42.9% from the three-point range, and 92.9% from the free throw line. Since the start of this season, Hield has averaged 17.1 minutes per game in the first 6 games, averaging 7.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.7 turnovers and 0.8 fouls. He shot 41.5% from the field, 28.6% from the three-point range, and 100% from the free throw line.

Hield's performance so far this season is actually relatively average. His state has actually dropped significantly compared to last season, and it is even further away from the three-pointer that Hield had in the playoffs last season. What's more, his contribution on the defensive end is also seriously insufficient. Because of this, Hilder's playing time this season has been significantly reduced compared to last season. For Hield, this is obviously not a good sign. Once another backcourt anchor, DeAnthony Melton, completes his comeback, Hield's playing time may further decline and his position in the team will become precarious.
