Rockets use two major two-way contracts to win Capela

5:48pm, 20 August 2025Basketball

The Hawks officially announced that former Rockets two-way contract insider Enfalley Dangte officially joined the team. According to previous reporter Michael Scotto, the Rockets and Dangte signed a contract of 4.5 million for two years. Dangte was originally a two-way contract player for the Rockets last season. The Rockets have his priority matching rights, but the Rockets actually filled the two-way contract position for the 25-26 season half a month ago and were unable to provide him with the two-way contract qualification for next season. Although the Rockets now have 17 people on the roster and theoretically there is still a formal contract quota for Dangte, the Rockets are only 1.2 million from the first rich line, and the cheapest basic salary for signing a veteran is 1.27 million. It is naturally impossible to surpass the rich line just for a marginal player like Dang Te, so in theory, the Rockets are unable to match other teams with everything that can take Dang Te away.

This is the second two-way contract player to join the Hawks this offseason. The Hawks had previously won David Roddy in Capela's trade, and this time they signed Dant. Dang Te just strengthened the Hawks' vacant substitute inside line after Capela left (of course, he could not completely replace Kahuang, but mosquito meat is also meat).

This round of operation is good for all three parties. The Rockets had the signing rights of two two-way contract players and got Capela; the Hawks lost Capela (they didn't choose this round because Kah King was a free agent), but they made up for the losses by signing first and then changing and subsequent signings, as well as some cash and second-round swaps. Dangte himself went to a team that was more likely to have a chance to play. Three wins, absolutely three wins!

Hawks are absolutely true love for the Rockets' basic salary players. In fact, in addition to Dangte and David Roddy, Australian forward McVeigh, who signed a basic salary contract with the Rockets last year, also quickly signed the Hawks to play in the Summer United after termination of the contract with the Rockets this summer. McVeigh played pretty well in the Summer United.

McVeigh actually played well during the summer United period. He scored 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 hat to lead the Hawks to defeat his old club. This summer, McVeigh averaged 14.0 points per game and shot as high as 58.8%. He also shot 45.5% of his three-pointers in four games. Such statistics are enough to prove that he can be a qualified rotation player on a team, especially for teams that lack outside shooters, McVay is a good choice.

In the just-concluded Asian Cup, McVeigh, as the core of Australia, defeated the Chinese men's basketball team with a slight advantage of 1 point and won the championship. He was also selected for the Best Team of the Tournament. However, the latter chose to leave the American basketball world after the end of the Summer League, ending a brief NBA journey in one year. He returned to the NBL to join the Kans Grand Team for two years of 2 million. It seems that he prefers to play ball at his doorstep than to make a living outside.

Speaking of Dangte, in fact, the Rockets should have wanted to sign him back before the offseason started this year, especially the team's two-way contract originally only signed one Kevin Harris. But Dangte's performance in Xia Lian's game was very poor, and he withdrew due to injury in his best game. Even after being injured, the Rockets still waited for his injury report for a while but did not sign anyone. The Rockets evaluated for a while before signing two players who other teams don't want, JD Davidson, who played for the Celtics, and Isaiah Crawford, who previously played for the Kings, filled the two-way contract positions. I also wish the players who leave the Rockets to play at their due level through new opportunities in the new season.
