October 23 According to the "Post" report, the European Football Supporters Association called on Serie A to follow La Liga and cancel the match plan between Milan and Como in Australia.
The Spanish Professional Football League announced on Tuesday it was abandoning controversial plans to hold Villarreal's match against Barcelona in Miami, a decision welcomed by many fans and players who had strongly protested against the arrangement. However, Serie A has yet to comment on whether the match between AC Milan and Como scheduled to be played in Perth will also be cancelled.
Football Supporters Europe (FSE) welcomed the news from Spain and on Wednesday asked the Italian football authorities to make the same decision: "The old idea of La Liga exporting games to Miami has failed again and the Villarreal vs. Barcelona game should be played where it belongs - at Villarreal."
"Common sense prevailed, which is important to European football. "A huge victory for the Serie A and for everyone who believes the sport should be rooted in our communities, it is time for Serie A to abandon its plans as well. "European football is once again united to protect the future of our sport, and the collective opposition from fans, players, UEFA, European institutions and other football stakeholders is loud and clear: domestic league matches should not be played abroad."
"Serie A must face its growing isolation and withdraw its proposal to move AC Milan's match against Como 1907 to Australia. There is still time. The position of Italian players and fans is clear: continuing to push forward with this failed idea would be a self-destructive act for the reputation of the league, Italian football and indeed the sport as a whole."
"Otherwise, we urge the Asian Football Confederation Meeting (AFC), the organization still needs to make a decision on this proposal, respect the voice of the fans, defend the rules of the game and reject this proposal. Football should not be 15,000 kilometers away from its homeland, and passion cannot be exported."
The game was originally moved to Australia by Serie A organizers earlier this year because the San Siro stadium will be used for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
Western Australia Deputy Prime Minister and Sports Minister Saffiotti said that Serie A representatives still insist that the game will go ahead as scheduled: "We have received very positive feedback from the Italian League, so we are very confident."
FIFA and the Australian Football Association also need to approve the game. Western Australia Premier Roger Cook announced the agreement earlier this month and praised Saffiotti's efforts to reach this agreement after visiting Italy in August.
