Hupu, October 11th: Newcastle United is pleased to announce the appointment of Ross Wilson as the club’s sporting director.
Ross will be responsible for sporting strategy, development and recruitment for the men’s, women’s and academy teams, working closely with the club’s football leadership and executive teams.
He previously served as chief football officer at Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle United facilitated his termination. The terms of the termination will be kept confidential by the two clubs and will not be made public.
Before joining Nottingham Forest in 2023, Rose served as the sporting director of Glasgow Rangers, helping the team win the first league championship in ten years, the Scottish Cup championship and a Europa League final berth.
He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be coming to Newcastle United. It's such a special club and I completely understand the passion, ambition and expectations of our dear fans and the ambition and desire of our owners to continue to grow.
"My communication with the owners has been very positive and I have been in close contact with Eddie Howe and David Hopkinson. The trust, cohesion and understanding we are building are already very strong and we believe that working together is vital as we continue to move the club forward together. ”
“I’m excited to be working with everyone in the different areas of the football department. We have achieved great results from the first team through to the women's team and academy and my aim is to build on this, gradually strengthen our organizational structure and work with our staff to create an environment where both players and staff can flourish. "
Newcastle United Chief Executive David Hopkinson said: "I am delighted to welcome Ross to Newcastle United. His experience and expertise will immediately strengthen us and his appointment is another important step forward. ”
“Ross has extensive experience driving strategic change. The processes he has instilled and the relationships he has built have helped his club win and grow, and he has demonstrated his ability to elevate talent pathways and integrate women's football into the same high-performance culture. "
"We look forward to working with him to achieve our ambitious goals of long-term sustainable success. "
