Monterrey uses a "double wall" strange formation against Inter Milan, fans complain: Football is over

June 19: Monterrey previously tied Inter Milan 1-1 in the Club World Cup, but the Mexican team's human wall tactics have sparked heated discussions.

When the score was stalemate at 1-1, Inter Milan got a free kick opportunity at the edge of the penalty area, and Monterrey used an unprecedented defensive tactic. Instead of using a regular man wall, they arranged a double man wall, four people in each row, and left a passage in the middle for the goalkeeper to clearly observe the ball path.

This unconventional arrangement worked successfully, and Inter Milan failed to score this set piece, but most fans on social media did not buy it.

When TNT Sports' official account posted a photo of the double wall, an Instagram user commented: "Football is over."

Some fans said bluntly: "It's so stupid."

Some supporters pointed out that Inter Milan could have easily cracked the wall of humans containing eight defensive players: "There are obviously so many contact points to pass."

However, this tactic was not completely denied. A fan responded on Instagram: "All teams should follow suit."

This is not the only unconventional incident in the Club World Cup this week. In the sunset game between Ulsan and Mamelodi, South African goalkeeper Rowan Williams was sentenced to violation for holding the ball for more than 8 seconds. Before the game, the referee committee announced that it would crack down on the goalkeeper and delayed time. Williams was "hit" because of this, and Ulsan got a corner kick opportunity. Fortunately, this penalty did not concede the goal, and Sunset finally won 1-0.
