Frank: No matter why Bayern lets go of Paligna, it is a good thing that Tottenham will win the battle

Hupu August 4th, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank publicly talked about the team's new player, Bayern midfielder Paligna.
"His ability has always been important. If you look at our lineup, I think that Tottenham's midfield lineup does not have the ability or comprehensive quality like him. Judging from the current lineup, we don't have this No. 6 position.
Actually, I think Rodri (Bentankur) can also play No. 6 position, but I think if it's them, or other players, they can complement each other well.
I think Pape (Sal) is very promising. We also have Bisoma and Bergvar.
But Palinia. The defensive ability, his ability in the midfield , very disciplined, his ability to distribute, short passes, slashes, backcourts (passes), and his ability to destroy opponents' offense. Especially when playing away or facing a team that is good at counterattacking.
Having a player who doesn't run away or gets attention from something is very important. His ability to set the ball in both penalty areas is crucial, and he is experienced, which is good."
The Tottenham head coach explained to football.london that he immediately felt that the team he took over was missing something in the core player position.
"When I came to the team and evaluated the roster, I thought we needed some improvement in that regard.
I knew the team, I knew the roster, and I watched extra games before coaching. But when you walk into the team, feel the players, get in touch with them, train with them, and watch great game videos with my eyes and play the way I want it to be.
Later I learned that he would be a very good addition. He played in the Premier League for two years, so I watched him closely and remember those matches we had with him (at Brentford). It was very tricky to play with him, so it was a good quality!"
Frank admitted that Tottenham had signed Palinia from Bayern after just one season.
"Yes, I'm a little surprised. Bayern has been negotiating for him for two years, for whatever reason - actually I don't care, because we can get him - it's an opportunity for us, and sometimes things get a little loop.
Sometimes we can't find a No. 9 player, sometimes we can't find a No. 6 player, sometimes we can't find a right back. There aren't many right-backs on the market right now, so we're lucky to have him.
I think he's a top player. During his two years at Fulham, he impressed everyone in the Premier League.
He is the main player of Portugal. Whatever the reason (Bayern lets him leave), it is the coach, the team culture, the club, or himself. Sometimes it is hard to say. What I worry is that he wants to come, and we want him to come too."
30-year-old Palinia is one of the older players Tottenham have signed in recent years, especially when his performance is excellent, the transfer fee may be as high as £26.2 million. But Frank made it clear that bringing in players who can play immediately is crucial, and adding experience does not necessarily mean introducing older players.
"Experience doesn't have to be (in terms of age). Kudus is experienced, he's only 24 years old. He tried a lot in his life and is now able to play.
I think it's important to bring in some players that can be effective immediately. We need enough players, and enough talent. We need the perfect combination because I think we have some very talented players in the midfield, like Archie Gray, Lucas and Pape."
Regarding whether the loan agreement is suitable for all parties, Frank added :
"This is important to all of us. We need him and his strength, but let's see how he adapts. A loan contract with an option buyout always gives us a chance to go further. When we sign a player, whether it's a loan or a permanent contract, we always focus on a long-term contract. This gives us more room for maneuver in a year."
Even if it ends up being a short-term contract, it gives 19-year-old Gray and Bergwal a year of growth and development time to make them the role Frank has been looking for.
"Yes, that's a good point. Thank you for asking this question, I should say that. You're right.
I'm glad to see two talented players on the team, but it's obvious that they still need to grow. Pape has proved that. It has nothing to do with age. They're 19 and he's 22. Not that.
Some people are ready at 19, some are 20, some are 22 or 23, but you can obviously see Papelo is better, he's a talented player. We're very happy with him."
