Eze is doubtful to stay or stay, Crystal Palace coach refuses to make any promises, Arsenal Hotspurs competes with two heroes

On August 10, Crystal Palace will play against Liverpool in the Community Shield Cup. At the pre-match press conference, when asked about the future of core player Eberec Eze, the team coach, refused to give a guarantee to stay in the team. Currently, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have shown strong interest in the England international.

Arsenal continues to seek strengthening the winger position this summer. After slow progress in chasing Real Madrid player Rodrigo, the Gunners are widely believed to be joining the same-city rival Tottenham to compete with Eze.

For Tottenham, coach Thomas Frank has long admired Eze. The team has suffered a major blow recently, with midfielder James Madison suffering from a serious injury to the ACL and is expected to miss most of the 2025-26 season. This makes the demand for attacking midfielders extremely urgent.

Faced with the growing attention of Eze, Glasner was directly asked whether the core player would continue to play for Crystal Palace after the transfer window closed this summer. In response, the Crystal Palace coach failed to provide any certainty promise, saying only: "He will definitely play on Sunday (Community Shield), and so will Mark Gei." The contract of Eze is believed to contain a termination clause worth about £67.5 million. However, there are conflicts in the reports on the validity period of the clause. Some reports say it has expired, and some points to the deadline on August 15.

It is understood that Eze's representative has had contact with two clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham, but has not received any official offer yet. Arsenal is said to be more focused on handling player transfers at this stage, while Tottenham plans to quickly assess and take action after Madison is seriously injured.

27-year-old Eze continued his outstanding form last season, representing Crystal Palace in various competitions, contributing a total of 14 goals and 11 assists. Among them, he directly participated in the Premier League (goals + assists) to 16 goals, setting a record high in his single-season career. His performance also attracted the call for the England national team.
