Civilized viewing should become public awareness

6:23pm, 26 July 2025Football

During the league, a Tianjin fan held a megaphone and insulted Chengdu Rongcheng player Wei Shihao and his family in vulgar language, causing Wei Shihao to lose control of his emotions. Subsequently, Jiang Moumou, a Tianjin fan who took the lead in insulting the player and his family, was administratively detained for 7 days and was ordered to be banned from watching the game. This storm once again pushed the proposition of "visiting the game in a civilized way" to the public's vision. We have to think about: How to protect the purity of the sports arena?

The sports arena has never been an emotionally out of control. Administrative detention of the insulter for seven days is not only a warning to individual deviance, but also a clear reaffirmation of "the arena is not a place beyond the law." Article 24 of the "Public Security Administration Punishment Law of the People's Republic of China" clearly stipulates that if the order of large-scale mass activities such as culture and sports is disrupted, a warning or a fine of not less than 200 yuan will be imposed; if the circumstances are serious, a detention of not less than 5 days but not more than 10 days may be imposed, and a fine of not more than 500 yuan may be imposed.

In recent years, uncivilized phenomena in sports events are not an isolated case. In the CBA playoffs on April 14, Shanxi home spectators showed uncivilized banners; in the same series on the 16th, some spectators threw water cups into the stadium; on the same day, the "Beijing Derby", there were even audiences shouting uncivilized terms on a large scale. In the women's singles final of the Paris Olympics, Chen Meng encountered sighs, booes and even insulting gestures when she won the championship, which was a pity that Chen Meng had sighed, booed and even insulted gestures from some spectators, putting the victory or defeat above the sports spirit.

In recent years, from the "Several Opinions on Strengthening the Management of Conduct of Sports Venues" jointly issued by the General Administration of Sports and the Ministry of Public Security to the continuous refinement of the viewing guidelines of local event organizing committees, institutional constraints have never been absent. But the vitality of rules lies in the public's conscious practice. Some viewers turned the stadium into a "spot" and used fan circle thinking to kidnap sports competitions and replaced sports spirit with victory and defeat opposition. This hurts not only the professional dignity of athletes, but also the healthy foundation of the entire sports ecology.

The dust settles in a single incident, but the warnings left behind should not fade. Every audience needs to cultivate the awareness of "watching the game has boundaries and sayings and deeds have standards": let the passion for watching the game return to the rational track, and keep the shouting of the field away from insults and insults. Those sweat shed on the field, persistence to challenge the limits, and tacit understanding of teamwork are the highlights worth focusing on. Only in this way can the sports arena truly become a spiritual home that conveys strength and unity, and let the sports spirit illuminate every corner.
