Cheferin: The new European Cup match system has been a success. Italy is a football powerhouse but the stadium facilities are very poor.

May 6th UEFA President Cefelin accepted an interview with Italian media "Slow Motion" and talked about multiple topics including the new UEFA Champions League match system and Inter Milan.

About the new UEFA Champions League system

"I am very satisfied with this. Our new UEFA Champions League has achieved great success. I think everyone who loves and knows football knows that the Champions League this season is really wonderful. We have seen many wonderful games. The last round of the league stage is incredible. Some strong teams were almost eliminated. For example, Paris Saint-Germain, who is now in the semi-finals, will be eliminated if they lose one or two more games."

" So, this season is really great. I think even those who always love to criticize understand now. But whether they are willing to admit it is another matter. Inter Milan is also the only Italian team that has passed the league stage and entered the semi-finals."

How do you view Inter Milan's performance in the Champions League?

"Inter Milan has performed well this season. It is an experienced team with a good coach and a great tactical style. I don't want to say anything more before the game tonight, but I have shown long ago that I had predicted Inter Milan will go further."

Milan's San Siro Stadium was rejected for the Champions League final, and discussions on building a new Stadium in Milan are underway.

"I think Italy's football infrastructure is ashamed. Italy is one of the largest football countries and has won many World Cups, European Cups, Champions Leagues. At the same time, among the big football countries, your infrastructure is far behind. Honestly, I'm a little tired of the Italian discussion about infrastructure because all we see is empty talk. I hope Italy can take action. The club needs the support of municipalities and private investors. It's time to act because it's so bad."
