Carragher hints Manchester United will sell a player after first signing in the summer

Jamie Carragher serves as a commentator for Sky Sports.

Jamie Carragher believes that Mattus Cunha is the "perfect" candidate for Manchester United coached by Ruben Amorin, but he believes that Cunha's arrival is "certainly not good news" for a Red Devils star.

There have been rumors over the past few months that the Brazilian player will join Manchester United, with Old Trafford seniors deciding to trigger his £62.5 million termination clause, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed on Monday that the deal is about to be reached.

He wrote on X: "Manchester United is now signing with Mattus Cunia!"

"The Brazilian has accepted the project, and the agreement on the personal terms is about to be finalized and has been almost completed.

"All parties involved need to determine the final details... and then we will start. ”

Ruben Amorin has scored 15 goals and contributed 6 assists in the Premier League this season, and he hopes the attacking midfielder will solve Manchester United’s scoring problem, and Carragher believes he will “perfectly adapt” to the Portuguese coach’s 3-4-3 formation.

"I think it’s a great signing, he’s an excellent player. I love watching him play," the Liverpool legend told Sky Sports.

"He was selected to the best team in my mind at halfway through the season, and he performed very well at the beginning of the season. I watched his game at Manchester City a few weeks ago and he looked very sharp and responsive. ”

"We know that the Manchester United coach wants two No. 10 players in the team. I think he is very suitable. ”

But Carragher believes that Cunha’s arrival may mean the end of Alejandro Garnacho’s Manchester United career.

The 20-year-old winger has scored 11 goals and 10 assists in various matches this season, but it is suggested that the club sell the academy graduate because unlike Cunha, he is not very suitable for Amorin’s formation.

Both Chelsea and Naples are closely related to the Argentine player’s transfer, with the Red Devils manager allegedly considering an offer of about £65 million.

When asked how Cunha’s transfer will affect Garnacho’s future at the club, Carragher said: “It’s certainly not good news, because I think Amade Diallo may play other positions with Cunha, Bruno Fernandez at different times.

"There are a lot of discussions about Garnacho's departure, because he comes from the youth training system, and we know what this means for PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules).

We also know that Manchester United is currently in some trouble with this issue. I think if Garnacho receives a good offer, Manchester United will likely accept it.
