Alberto: I have my family in Sevilla and Cadiz and want to win honors for Spain

4:20pm, 29 October 2025Football

October 29th Luis Alberto Romero Alconchel, a Spanish player born in 1992, will join Qatar's Duhail Club in 2024, ending his eight-year career with Lazio. He played in the youth systems of Sevilla, Barcelona and Malaga, and achieved greater success in Italy. Now, he is embarking on a new adventure in Qatar with a new passion.

How was your stay in Qatar?

Very good, life here is very peaceful, my family and I are very satisfied. We decided to take this step and I feel so happy now.

What are your goals for this season?

Last year we lost the chance of the league title in the last few games, and this year we didn't start well, but we have remained unbeaten in the last four games and won three of them. Next we will play against Gharaffa and if we win, we will be back in contention for the title.

You were born in Cadiz, grew up in the Sevilla youth academy, and played in Malaga. Which place do you miss the most?

I miss Seville and Cadiz more because my family is there, and my wife’s family, and I travel back and forth between these two cities all the time.

What are your memories of your time in Seville?

I learned a lot there. I joined the team when I was 11 years old and made a lot of friends who are still good friends of mine to this day. For example, Alberto Moreno and I played together since childhood, and Sergio Rico, and we are reunited here now. For me, Sevilla is my home and they made me a professional footballer.

Do you feel a little sorry to see the current situation in Seville?

Sevilla has gone through a great period in the past few years. But now for some reasons, maybe management issues, they are in trouble. I think this year will be different and the team will be better under Perado Almeida. I hope they can return to their previous form and achieve an ideal result.

Would you consider playing in Spain for the final time?

I don’t know. I haven't thought about anything else since I got here. I just want to take it year by year and enjoy the rest of my football career because I know I'm going to miss it so much.

Do you think the national team has not played enough games?

Yes, it is definitely not enough. I think at some point I'll have a chance to play more games. Every player wants to win glory for his country, put on the national team jersey and be successful. I hope to have more opportunities.
