Yang Hansen has set many new highs, but the problem is still serious

7:27am, 25 November 2025Basketball

Trail Blazers vs. Thunder. To be honest, I predicted before the game that Yang Hansen would get a relatively long playing time. Although the Thunder's only loss so far this season was caused by the Trail Blazers, if the Thunder seriously wants revenge, the Trail Blazers really can't stop them.

The point difference reached more than 20 points in the first quarter, and Yang Hansen also got a chance to play in the first quarter. Yang Hansen continued to be on the court at the beginning of the second quarter, and even faced Harten and made his first three-pointer in his NBA career. In the previous games, Yang Hansen had missed six three-pointers in a row. He hit the first three-pointer in this game, which also paved the way for so many three-pointers in the future.

In the first three quarters of regular time, Yang Hansen did not get many opportunities and played 5 minutes and 36 seconds. In addition to hitting the first three-pointer in his career, he also ushered in the first "break-up" in his career. After appeasing his opponent, he still comforted his teammates. The social attribute is indeed not stage fright.

I also saw a video of Yang Hansen talking to several teammates alone before. I don’t know exactly what he said, but Yang Hansen at least dared to communicate, and his teammates seemed to understand him. This is a huge improvement in English.

After three quarters, the game officially entered garbage time. Yang Hansen also got a chance to play in the entire quarter in the last quarter, playing for 12 minutes. These 12 minutes can be regarded as anticlimactic. It started out amazingly, but then it kind of spiraled out of control.

Yang Hansen first faced Harten in the low post, turning twice in a row to show his dreamy footsteps. Then a master made a layup, the referee whistle sounded, and Yang Hansen made a free throw to score 2+1. It is worth mentioning that after Yang Hansen scored these 3 points, his NBA career score has surpassed Zhou Qi (24 points), and he still faced Zhou Qi, who was surpassed by Harten. This fate is so interesting.

Not long after, Yang Hansen ushered in the first alley-oop dunk in his NBA career. Playing a pick-and-roll with Love, he received Love's high-throw pass and dunked with one arm. Love's passing awareness of this ball is worthy of praise, but in fact it was still a little high. With Xiao Yang's height and wingspan, he could barely catch it and finish it.

With 8 minutes left in the final quarter, Yang Hansen had already scored 8 points. Everyone thought that Yang Hansen would score in double figures for the first time. But in the next 8 minutes, Yang Hansen gained nothing, and the game was very ugly.

Yang Hansen's several three-point shots were missed, and his shots became more and more outrageous. His physical fitness declined quickly, and his subsequent hasty three-point shot was blocked. Yang Hansen's three-pointers in the game were 1 of 6, and he missed 5 in a row. In fact, Yang Hansen was very effective in the low post today, but I don't know why he didn't actively ask for positions in the paint. Of course, his teammates ignored him even after asking several times.

Yang Hansen takes so many three-pointers. If it is not required by the coach, I think it should be reduced. Play more in the comfort zone inside and show more of your talents in the paint. Three-pointers are still too unstable for Yang Hansen at this stage.

Of course, there is still a small problem on the offensive end. The defensive end is the main reason why Yang Hansen cannot play now. In today's Thunder game, whether it was the main lineup or the third lineup, they targeted Yang Hansen when they came on the court, treating Xiao Yang as a living target.

The main reason is that the Thunder shot accurately today. Regardless of whether Yang Hansen saved it or not, the Thunder could make the shot. It gave the impression that Yang Hansen had been losing points on the defensive end, and the scene was ugly. Because they all know that you can't defend yourself, so I will naturally catch you and hit you. Yang Hansen's pace is still slow now, and he is still a little hesitant about whether to make a decisive three-pointer. Sometimes a symbolic stretch of your hand won't have any effect.

Some of his defensive habits and moves still have CBA logic in them. They are not active or ferocious enough, and some rounds are still too "one-sided". These defensive habits, including some judgments on rebounding, require real playing time to correct. But first, your attitude must be positive and your physical fitness must keep up.

Today is the first time that Yang Hansen has played continuously for such a long time. Later, he clearly felt that his physical fitness had bottomed out, and his body language on both ends of the offense and defense revealed this. Although Yang Hansen scored 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block today, nearly 18 minutes of playing time, and 3 of 11 shots were career highs, his overall performance was still not good enough. The flaws outweighed the highlights, making it difficult to be satisfied.

It is estimated that Yang Hansen will be delegated again soon and can play more games in the Development League. Yang Hansen played well in the first game after returning from the Development League last time, so being sent down is not a bad thing at all.

Thousands of words can be summed up in one sentence: Keep practicing, practice hard, practice will be useful, and you will definitely see results on the court.
