Jefferson supports Malone better than Barkley

1:09pm, 5 August 2025Basketball

NBA commentator Richard Jefferson talked about the contrast between Barkley and Malone on the show. He would say he chose Malone over Barkley because Malone is more professional, and Barkley has the problem of playing off the court and is unwilling to be a role model.

Jefferson said: "The reason I chose Malone over Barkley is that Malone always maintains a very high professional attitude. So when I compare Malone and Barkley, I find that when Barkley played in Philadelphia, his figure was sometimes good and sometimes bad, and we all know that he had some off-court party activities. I mean, Barkley is a rebel, he is not a role model. I am not criticizing him, but you see someone like Malone, who trains for 8 hours a day, has a career of 19 years, and ranks second in the scoring list. If his body can hold on, he will probably become the historical scoring champion."

Malone played for the Jazz and the Lakers in his career, and averaged 25.0 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He was selected as the All-Star 14 times and was selected as the MVP twice.
