Interesting, Lakers James slams older players for "talking nonsense to the modern NBA"

Lakers star LeBron James doesn't understand why NBA stars in the past are still belittled today's game.

Even at the age of 40, LeBron James is still one of the best players in the NBA and is still one of the leading players of this generation. Therefore, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has the heavy responsibility of setting standards for the game.

National league players are often criticized for lack of resilience, competitiveness and friendship with each other. Most of the time, they are criticized by older generations of players who almost always claim that past games are more difficult and physically focused on them than they are now.

Comparing the modern NBA with the NBA from thirty or forty years ago is like comparing apples and oranges. They are all fruits, but there are key differences. This is exactly why different eras in the NBA are so unique, because each era has different highlights.

In the recent episode of LeBron and Steve Nash's Mind the Game, two legendary stars explore the older generation of players' criticism of the way basketball plays today. Although James is grateful for the older NBA and still loves to look back at the older NBA, he doesn't understand why those older players feel the need to criticize the way they play today.

"I loved basketball since I was a kid. I mean, damn-the older generation of players will make you no longer want to like the games I watched grew up watching,” LeBron admitted. "For example, I loved the playoff series between the Knicks and the Bulls since I was a kid. Or the playoff series between the Pacers and the Knicks. I liked it so much."

"I'm from a small town outside of Cleveland, but I'm not going to see the Cavaliers have a chance to play against Jordan (Michael Jordan) -- obviously, I didn't have a chance to watch it live, but everyone was excited."

"It's so fucking good to see Charles Barkley play in Phoenix and bring his talent to Phoenix and help them reach the Finals... But now, that generation has a bad review of the games, which makes you have to go back to watch those old games -- and even make you not want to appreciate them as you were a kid."

Nash and James both think that going back to watch those old games videos is not as good as they were when they were kids. Although the two of them still like to browse the NBA's vault from time to time, LeBron made it clear that the older generation's criticism of him and his peers was actually the same as they did when they were young.

"It feels great. Or like those guys say, 'We can't be friends', or 'Why are you laughing on the court?' And then someone came up with a video where you stood next to that guy during the finals and laughed back and forth. I was thinking, what the hell? Can we be honest? I don't understand," James continued. "If you want to make a movie of your own - you write the script yourself." The NBA is in a great stage. While household stars like James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant always make sensation and headlines, the latest generation of players are also starting to show their dominance.

Shay Gilgers-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, Tyreth Halliburton and Jaylen Brunson all led their respective teams to the Eastern Conference Finals, with one of them going to win their first championship in June.

The NBA has many star players and 30 teams with extraordinary talents, which is undoubtedly the best stage for NBA development. Maybe someone will complain about some aspects of the game changing, but for LeBron and some other veteran league players, it's still a game they loved as a child.
