1064 points! Edwards, you are too strong, Garnett holds a record of 21 years, you broke

3:33pm, 23 May 2025Basketball

Edwards, as the strongest shooting guard in the new generation, has become the totem of the Timberwolves. In today's Western Conference Finals against the Thunder, although the Timberwolves still lost to their opponents, Edwards' personal performance was excellent. He made 12 of 26 shots in the game, scoring gorgeous data of 32 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. In this way, Edwards' total score in his playoff career has reached 1,064 points. Although he is young, Garnett has maintained a 21-year team record, which is broken by him.

Garnett is the first person in the Timberwolves' history. He was the draft in 1995 and was selected by the Timberwolves with the fifth pick that year. Although he was not favored in the early days, Garnett quickly proved himself and became the league's signature character in the early 21st century. At its peak, Garnett became the league's rebounding champion for four consecutive seasons, and in 2004, he won the regular season MVP trophy. He left the Timberwolves since then, but returned to the Timberwolves at the end of his career and officially retired in 2016.

Looking back at Garnett's Timberwolves career, he played for a total of 14 seasons with the Timberwolves. However, that Timberwolves was not very strong, but Garnett's leadership performance was not outstanding. I played in the playoffs for 8 times, 7 of which were eliminated in the first round, and 1 time to the Western Conference Finals. He averaged 22.3 points, 13.4 rebounds and 5 assists per game in the playoffs. He scored a total of 1,046 points in the Timberwolves' playoffs, making him the team's playoff scorer. This record has been maintained since 2004.

But now it has been broken by young Edwards. As the No. 1 pick in 2020, Edwards played in the league for a total of 5 years and spent all of them with the Timberwolves. When it comes to personal abilities, Edwards is obviously not as good as Garnett, because he has not been selected for the Best Team and has never been a player of MVP. But his performance in leading the team is no less than Garnett back then. Edwards led the team to the playoffs four times in just five years, and has been in the Western Conference Finals for two consecutive years last year and this year. On the playoff stage, Edwards played a total of 39 games, and he averaged 27.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, making him the league's first point guard. With his outstanding personal performance, Edwards' total score in the playoffs has reached 1,064 points, and he has also successfully surpassed the Wolf King Garnett and became the Timberwolves' scoring champion in history.

As a comparison, Garnett played for a total of 14 years before he became the scoring leader in team history. After only 5 seasons, Edwards surpassed Garnett and became the scoring leader in team history. If he continues to maintain such performance, Edwards is expected to become the number one person in team history.
