November 08, Reuters reported that the Irish Football Association voted to pass a proposal asking UEFA to ban Israel. The vote within the Irish Football Association was overwhelmingly supportive of the proposal.
The Irish Football Association confirmed in a statement that the specific vote count was 74 votes in favor, 7 votes against and 2 abstentions. Before Ireland, the Norwegian and Turkish football federations had made similar calls. UEFA has not responded yet.
In the proposal, the Irish Football Association stated that the Israeli Football Association was suspected of violating two provisions of the UEFA Charter: its failure to implement and enforce effective anti-racism policies, and Israeli clubs playing in the occupied Palestinian territories without the consent of the Palestinian Football Association.
