Wade: Guy isn t you who think you can win the championship. You have never played in the finals.

The Heat in 2013 are one of the most dominant teams in the modern NBA. Under the leadership of James, Wade and Bosh, they are at the heyday of the Heat Big Three dynasty. But according to Rudy Guy, his Grizzlies would have been able to beat the Heat if it weren't for a mid-season deal. However, Wade did not agree with this. When Wade was a guest on the WY Network podcast, he directly responded to Guy's statement that "if you stayed in the Grizzlies, the team could have beaten the Heat." His tone was very straightforward: "You don't think you can win the finals. We have reached the finals for four consecutive years and have beaten you many times before. Brother, you don't know how to win in the finals."
Guy's remarks originated from sharing when he was a guest on the Out the Mud podcast earlier this month. He reviewed his experience from being traded to the Raptors in the 2012-13 season - at that time, Guy, as the Grizzlies' number one scorer, averaged 17.2 points per game.
He believes that if the Grizzlies, who had a record of 56 wins and 26 losses that season and reached the Western Conference Finals, had a chance to win the championship all the way. In the playoffs that season, the Grizzlies defeated the Clippers and the Thunder one after another, and were finally swept out by the Spurs. Guy believes that his scoring ability could have provided additional help to the Grizzlies and help the team reach the finals.
But Wade clearly pointed out: "Being able to go far in the playoffs and truly defeat a team that has been tested by the championship." By 2013, the Heat had reached the Finals for three consecutive years and were moving towards the goal of two consecutive championships. They achieved a record of 66 wins and 16 losses in the regular season, and set a record of 27 consecutive victories. The team has LeBron, the best player in the league at its peak.
The historical results are also on Wade's side. Even if the Grizzlies really defeated the Spurs back then, it is hard to imagine that they can beat the Heat in a seven-game four-win series. You know, the Heat had a fierce battle with the Spurs in the finals, and finally passed the game with Ray Allen's iconic sixth game draw, which is enough to prove that they have the hard ability to win on the highest stage.
For Guy, this is a typical "if" battle; but for Wade, the truth is very simple: the Heat's championship background cannot be overcome by fantasy.
