The fourth last singles efficiency, what the Rockets lack? The scorer averaged 26 points per game and Uduka insisted on getting rewards

On August 20, the Houston Rockets will usher in a new season in more than a month. It is completely different from the Rockets' generally not favored during the offseason last season. The Rockets are now listed as one of the favorites to win the championship. After all, last summer, the Rockets failed to enter the playoffs before and only ranked 11th in the Western Conference regular season. Therefore, many media and experts believe that the Rockets' ultimate goal is to enter the playoffs through the playoffs, but the Rockets' performance last season is impressive.

Without superstars, the Rockets made it to the second place in the West with veterans and young core players. Although he was eventually eliminated by the Warriors in the first round due to his poor offense and poor performance in the playoffs, the Rockets could have completed the task, which was to enter the playoffs.

The Rockets must have new ideas in the new season. Entering the playoffs can no longer satisfy the Rockets' appetite. Winning the championship is what the Rockets want the most. Compared with last season, the Rockets' changes next season mainly come from the front line: they sent Jaylen Green and Dillon Brooks away in exchange for Durant, and the two defensive wings, Finney Smith and Okogie, also joined at the same time; Randale left the inside and Capela came, and the Rockets' overall defensive quality reached a higher level. The problem now is that the Rockets already have top scorers like Durant on the offensive end. Van Vritte and Amen Thompson both averaged 18 points per game, and the Rockets' Shin Kyung also had the chance to average 20 points per game.

More importantly, Durant's arrival has greatly improved the Rockets' singles ability. Although Jaylen Green averaged 21 points per game last season, his scoring efficiency was very low, his shooting percentage was also very low, and his singles efficiency was even worse. There is even a set of statistics showing that in the regular season last season, the Rockets ranked fourth from the bottom in the league in singles, and only slightly stronger than the three weak teams at that time, the Jazz, Wizards and Toronto Raptors.

And in the regular season and playoffs last season, the Rockets could only score 0.91 points per single, which was completely in line with the Rockets' ranking second in the Western Conference. So, in the offseason, Uduka and Stone also knew what the difference between the Rockets. Under the firm request of Uduka coach, the Rockets finally exchanged Jaylen Green, Dillon Brooks and draft picks for super scorer Kevin Durant.

Next season, at least in terms of hard scoring and singles, the Rockets will have two scoring masters, Shin Kyung and Durant, and will be accompanied by Smith Jr., Amen Thompson and Van Vreet. If Shepard can show his offensive state in college, the Rockets will become the top team in the league on the offensive end. So the Rockets really lack what they want. This problem has disappeared directly.

If coach Uduka had not insisted on letting the Rockets exchange Durant, the Rockets' first scorer next season would be 23-year-old Jaylen Green. The joining of Durant, a super shooter who averages 26 points per game, directly improved the Rockets' offense by several levels. At least their singles efficiency will be greatly improved next season, and Uduka's persistence has finally achieved huge rewards.
