George is the only one left! 2010 No. 1 pick Wall retires, and James will usher in his 23rd season

According to the latest news, 2010 No. 1 pick John Wall has officially announced his retirement, ending his 11-year NBA career. Although Wall has just announced his retirement now, he has actually faded out of the NBA and his last appearance in his career was January 14, 2023.

Wall played in his career for only 11 seasons, 9 of which were dedicated to the Wizards of the Parent Team, and sent 5,282 assists and 976 steals, both ranking first in the team history. Throughout his Wizards' career, Wall played a total of 573 games, averaging 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

The reason why Wall's career was so short was mainly due to injuries. In December 2018, Wall was reimbursed for the season due to an injury to his left heel, and then he was out for a whole year due to a slip and ruptured his left Achilles tendon. Because Wall has been recuperating and is still holding a big contract, the Wizards traded him to the Rockets in 2020 in exchange for Westbrook.

After Wall arrived at the Rockets, he was bought out by the Rockets again on June 29, 2022 and joined the Clippers. As a result, he was sent back to the Rockets before the transaction deadline. The Rockets cut him off again. Wall's career ended here and could no longer gain a foothold in the NBA. Now he has to announce his retirement.

As the former No. 1 pick and the first point guard in the Eastern Conference, Wall's talent and strength are beyond doubt, but unfortunately he was not lucky and ruined by injuries. Wall is only 35 years old now, and if he is not injured, he may still continue to fight. However, Wall still earned a lot of money in his career, and his total salary reached $276 million, which is not that bad in comparison.

After Wall retired, Paul George was the only player left in the 2010 rookie. Although George only signed a maximum salary contract of more than $200 million in four years last summer, his strength has also declined significantly. However, with a big contract, George will definitely not officially retire until the contract is over.

The 2010 rookies actually showed up several outstanding players, such as George, Wall, Cousins, Hayward, etc. Unfortunately, they all suffered major injuries without exception, and except George, they all retired early.

In addition, after Wall retired in 2010, he lost another No. 1 pick in active service. Only James is still playing in the 10 No. 1 picks in the first ten years of the 21st century, and James will usher in his 23rd season of his career next season, setting a new historical record. Although Howard has not announced his retirement yet, he has no ball to play and is even going to enter the Hall of Fame soon.
