The draw ended, the Spurs were in a dilemma to win the second draw, betting on 39% three-pointer shooting or second talent?

The results of the 2025 lottery draw in NBA have been settled. The Dallas Mavericks finally became the biggest winner with a 1.8% chance of ranking 11th and won the No. 1 pick, but they are not the only winners of this draw ceremony. Their neighbor San Antonio Spurs won the second draw with a 6.3% chance and also left the draw ceremony as the winner. The Mavericks will undoubtedly choose Duke's Cooper Flag with the No. 1 pick, which leaves the Spurs with a question that scouts and experts have been arguing for more than a year, which is who is the second best player in this class?

There is no suspense in this class, so when the Spurs started the draft, Flag was already selected by the Mavericks, but there are still many choices in this class that can be paired with Victor Vinban Yama. The Spurs can choose scorers like Trey Johnson or Ace Bailey, defenders like Dylan Harper or V.J. Edgecombe, or centers like Derek Quinn or Carman Maruac. The future of the Spurs will undoubtedly be based on Vampangyama as the core of the team building, and there are already complementary players such as Stephen Castle, Daron Fox, Devin Vassel and Jeremy Sohan. From all the signs at present, Rutgers guard Dylan Harper (son of NBA champion Ron Harper) is the second best player in this class that most people recognize, but the problem is that the Spurs have set Castle and Fox as the team's future backcourt choices. So while Harper can control the team's offense and serve as an off-ball scorer and is likely to be the second best player in this class, the Spurs will pick the people they think can maximize the role of Vinban Yama.

Judging from the Spurs' lineup composition, they do not lack guards, but require some outside shooting and scoring ability, which raises a question: Will they give up on Harper? After all, Harper's shooting percentage outside the three-point line is only 33.3%, and the Spurs' current starting lineup, including Vinbanyama, Fox, Castle and Sohan, does not have enough space.

No matter where you are on the court, the best scorer in this rookie is from Trey Johnson of Texas. He leads the top 12 games with averaging 19.9 points per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of up to 39.7%. Although he is thin and his defense is not particularly good, Vinbanyama, Castle and Fox can make up for this. So do you think the Spurs should choose Johnson according to the needs of the lineup, or choose a safer option Harper?
