Preview of the G4 of the Western Conference Finals: Edwards wins another game and forces into Tianwang Mountain? Alexander strives to rebound

4:50pm, 26 May 2025Basketball

At 8:30 am on May 27, the Western Conference Finals will continue, and the Timberwolves will play against the Thunder again at home to start the fourth game of the series. In the first three games, the Thunder led 2-1 in total, but the Timberwolves defeated their opponents by 42 points in the third game. In the G4 of the Western Conference Finals, is Alexander leading the team to turn the total score into 3-1, or is Edwards taking another game and forcing the series into the Battle of Tianwang Mountain?

Speaking of the team's 101-143 defeat to the Timberwolves, Thunder core Alexander said that this embarrassing defeat should be a wake-up call. "I promise you we don't want to end the game that way," Alexander said, "but anyway, if we want to achieve our ultimate goal, we have to solve the problem. That's what the two days in between - make ourselves better."

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are eager to continue working hard on a big win and strive to tie the series. If they lose this game, they will be on the verge of elimination, as the fifth game of the series will be moved to Oklahoma City.

Timberwolves center Gobert said that the team's response should be very simple. "We know who we are," Gobert said, "so be ourselves."

Edwards led the Timberwolves with 26.7 points per game in the first three games of the series. Randle averaged 19.3 points per game, while McDaniels averaged 13 points per game. Alexander ranked first in the Thunder with 27.7 points per game, with Jaylen Williams (19.3 points per game) and Homgren (15.7 points per game) being the other two main scorers of the Thunder.

Homgren is confident that he and his Thunder teammates will rebound in the G4 in the Western Conference Finals. He admitted that the Timberwolves were obviously cheering up after losing the first two games, and said the Thunder needed to study the game video and find a way to regain control of the situation.

"We have to do what they did (after the second game)," Homgren said. "We have to look back at the game and see why their approach worked and then figure out how to deal with it."

Alexander scored 31 points in the first game and 38 points in the second game, but struggled in the third game, scoring only 14 points from 4 of 13 shots. "In the long season, you're going to be hit," Alexander said. "The key is to get back on your feet and respond. That's the challenge. We were hit hard in the third game. The next game, we either get back on our feet or just fall down... Of course, we need to make a decision." There is a player who is expected to get more playing time in the Western Conference Finals G4, and that's Timberwolves' rookie Terence Shannon Jr. He scored 15 points from the bench in Game 3, and his performance at the rushing basket left a deep impression on his teammates and coaches.

"I have been thinking about getting another player into rotation," Timberwolves coach Finch said. "A player who can open up space in the conversion offense, can hit the basket, has excellent physical condition, and has the ability to confront each other... You will definitely see him more often."
