When the offseason trading curtain is about to open, 40-year-old Chris Paul is undoubtedly the most popular "big fish" in the free market.

U.S. media Bovada updated the next odds, showing that the Mavericks ranked first with -120 odds, with the Lakers (+300) and the Clippers (+375) following closely behind, and a "snatch-up battle" around the veteran point guard is already on the string.

The Mavericks have a long interest in Paul, especially when Kyrie Irving suffered a torn cruciate ligament on his left knee and is expected to miss most of the next season. The team urgently needs an experienced point guard to stabilize the rotation.

Paul's performance with the Spurs this season proves that he can still contribute stable organizational skills - averaging 7.4 assists, a three-point shooting percentage of 37.7%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 92.4%. Data shows that Paul's assist conversion rate with the Spurs last season was as high as 62%, ranking 12th in the league, and his control ability is still at the top level.

In addition, the Mavericks have a dual-core system of Thick Brows + Irving, and Paul's role is more likely to be a substitute point guard + locker room leader, helping the team go further in the playoffs.

The competition among the two Los Angeles is also fierce.

The Lakers urgently need to strengthen the back line. Paul and James' "Banana Boat Brothers" friendship, coupled with the Lakers' own championship background, behind the odds of +300 is the fans' expectations for "Jack Paul's Link".

The Clippers value Paul's playoff experience more - although Leonard and Harden are strong when healthy, the team always lack a real "on-court commander". Paul's defensive performance of 1.3 steals per game can also inject vitality into the Clippers' weak backcourt defense.

It is worth mentioning that the Trail Blazers are also quietly entering the game.

Microsoft Sam Amico revealed that the team hopes that Paul will serve as Henderson's mentor and use his 20 years of career experience to help the potential point guard grow rapidly.

Although the odds of +900 may seem slim, the Trail Blazers have plenty of salary space and can provide Paul with a stable starting position, which may be a key factor that impressed him.

Looking back on this season, Paul played 82 games with the Spurs, averaging efficiently to contribute 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists in 27.9 minutes, and his three-point shooting percentage was 37.7%, which was a new high in the past five years. Even though he is 40 years old, his mid-range jump shot and decision-making ability at critical moments are still the puzzle that the championship team dreams of.

According to statistics, when Paul was on the court, the Spurs' offensive efficiency increased by 11.2%, and his title of "Master of Field Control" was well-known.

40-year-old Paul is still pursuing his first championship in his career. Can the Mavericks sign him as he wishes? Will the Lakers Clippers disrupt the situation? Let's wait and see!
