8:46pm, 11 August 2025Basketball

The Boston Celtics officially announced two important player changes: officially laying off two-way contract player Myers Norris, and signing experienced forward player Chris Boucher with a one-year full guarantee contract worth $3.3 million. This severance and signing marks another adjustment to the depth of the Celtics' lineup.

to maneuver the space, and the two-way quota changed hands

In order to complete the follow-up operation, the Celtics first cut off the two-way contract player Myers Norris. Last season, the young player played only three regular season games for the Celtics, averaging 11.7 minutes per game, contributing 2.3 points and 3 rebounds. His overall shooting percentage was only 22.2%, and his three-point shooting percentage was 28.6%. His efficiency was not high and he failed to get a stable rotation position. The main purpose of sacking Norris is to free up a valuable two-way contract place for the team. According to previous reports, the Celtics plan to use this quota to sign young player Amari Williams.

Champions experience joining, Boucher fills the depth of the frontcourt

on the same day when the official layoffs were announced, the Celtics officially welcomed the arrival of new aid Chris Boucher. Boucher, 32, played for the Toronto Raptors last season, playing 50 games (no starter), averaging 17.2 minutes per game, and efficiently contributed 10 points and 4.5 rebounds.

As a forward player with excellent athleticism and defensive awareness, Boucher's joining is expected to bring much-needed depth, energy and experience to the Celtics' frontcourt rotation. The Celtics hope he can play a big role in the bench in the new season, especially in support of rebound protection and basket defense.

The end of an era

As Boucher left the Raptors and turned to the Celtics, it also marked the official end of an era of Toronto basketball. Boucher was one of the Raptors who made history and won the first NBA championship in team history in 2019. His departure means that all members of that championship team were no longer in the current Raptors.

The Celtics' plan for the new season

This signing shows the Celtics management's determination to continue to strengthen the depth of the lineup during the offseason. Based on Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum as the core, introducing practical veterans like Boucher with playoff and even finals experience will help improve the team's overall resilience and ability to cope with long seasons. Boucher's vitality, defense and ending ability at the basket will complement the existing system of the Celtics.
