October 14th: Former Mavericks boss Mark Cuban was a guest on Pablo Torre’s podcast. The latter previously broke the news that Leonard and the Clippers have a yin and yang contract.
In the show, Pablo Torre asked about the rumors that the Mavericks and Nowitzki had a yin-yang contract. Cuban said that there was no yin-yang contract to avoid tax.
Pablo Torre mentioned that there were rumors that Cuban's company spent 48 million to buy Nowitzki's documentary as a way to circumvent the salary cap. Later, the person in charge of the company clarified that he only spent 100,000 US dollars to buy the 10-year distribution rights. Finally, he asked Cuban: "So for final confirmation, did the Mavericks circumvent the salary cap through Dirk Nowitzki's contract in 2014?"
Cuban replied: No.
In 2014, Nowitzki signed a three-year, $25 million contract extension with the Mavericks. It was reported that he rejected offers of $92 million from the Lakers and Rockets.
