November 12 Today, four-time NBA All-Star Michael Ray Richardson passed away in Oklahoma at the age of 70 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The NBA official tweeted: The NBA is deeply saddened by the passing of four-time All-Star player Michael Ray Richardson. After Michael retired, he devoted himself to using his life story to inspire young people and teach life lessons. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.
Michael Ray Richardson, nicknamed "Sugar Man", was selected by the Knicks with the fourth overall pick in the 1978 draft. He played for the Knicks, Warriors and Nets for 8 seasons in his career. He was elected the league's assists leader once and the league's steals leader three times. He was selected to the All-Defensive Team twice and was selected to the All-Star four times. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7 assists per game in his career.
