August 21, Newcastle and Liverpool striker Irving said in another interview that he does not blame Isaac for his "ambition" in trying to facilitate the transfer, and that Newcastle now needs to make a major decision on Isaac's future.
Isaac has made it clear that he hopes to leave Newcastle United this summer, and transfer to Liverpool is his first choice. However, Liverpool has not yet met Newcastle's valuation of the player, and Newcastle also insists that they have no intention of selling unless things change drastically.
Irving left after relegated to the Championship with Newcastle in 2009, which he believes is not uncommon.
Irving said: "This is not a strange situation, it is a high-profile situation, but it is the same as it often happens at other times.
"The discussion contains a lot of simple factors. From a Newcastle perspective, they have a player who is still in the contract and they have to weigh the financial balance, what returns they can get, maybe have an unhappy player, or maybe forcefully stay.
"I used to be a player and I can't blame people for having ambitions. If people don't have ambitions, if people just for money and don't care about that, we wouldn't have a great game. Football wouldn't be what it is.
"The point is that everyone strives to be the best themselves, play for the best teams they can reach, and try to win as many medals as possible in their short careers. Therefore, I cannot blame the players for being outstanding and improving themselves.
"Obviously, one thing is that Newcastle has his contract for about three years, so they do have a lot of initiative. However, we have seen before that it is not easy to keep an unhappy player when players want something or ask for something."
Isaac issued a statement on Tuesday night local time saying that the club had promised it and that the team had known its position for a long time, but now it seems that the problem has just emerged.
