5. How often can I use the EAP?

Employees are not limited to using the EAP only once a year, but may return for help with different problems as many times as they need.

6. Is the EAP really confidential?

Absolutely. If you choose to use the EAP, your contact with us is confidential and free. If you meet with an EAP counselor, they will arrange to meet with you at a time that works with your schedule.

Your employer will never know that you have chosen to use the Employee Assistance Program.

As in any counseling practice, there are certain behaviors and actions that the EAP, in the interests of public safety, is required by law to report. These include child and elder abuse, and threat of harm to self or others.

7. What does the EAP cost?

The EAP services are free. Your employer pays for this benefit.

8. What types of concerns can I bring to the EAP?

You can bring any problem to the EAP that is causing you concern.

We are most often asked to help with relationship problems. This might include marital issues, communication concerns, conflict with your child, etc.

We are also frequently asked to help with personal problems like depression, anxiety, grief, and other emotions.

We are here to help with drug and alcohol related problems.

We are asked to help with life problems dealing with child care, elder care, legal and financial issues.

9. If I see a counselor, where will they be located?

The EAP has offices throughout the area. A local counselor/associate will be assigned to you, and together you will arrange a time to meet and discuss your concerns.

10. What hours is the EAP available?

Depending on the city where you live, the EAP offices keep normal business hours, plus some evenings and possibly Saturday.

11. Can members of my family use it?

Yes. Any member of your immediate family (lives with you and/or is financially dependent upon you) may use the program.

12. If I am referred to another service by the EAPcounselor, who pays for the cost of the other service?

If the EAP refers you to another service, (i.e. to a marriage counselor, a drug or alcohol program) you are responsible to pay for those services. However, the EAP will typically refer you to a service covered by your insurance, or to a low cost or no cost service.
